Tiderne Skifter Publishers was founded in 1973 and has published more than 500 titles since then. There are titles in Danish as well as foreign fiction, poetry and drama, political literatur, the politics of gender and sexuality, public cultural history and critiques of contemporary culture. With roots in the political culture of the 1970s, the women's movement and the youth rebellion, Tiderne Skifter has maintained a consistently critical publication profile, putting out books sparking debate within all areas of society: Gender and modernism, feminism, sex, computer culture, research into the future, psychoanalysis, visual art and photography, etc. Parallel to this non-fiction line, Tiderne Skifter has created a characteristic quality-conscious literary profile and publishes a number of new foreign authorships.

Tiderne Skifter has (among others) published translated books of the following authors: Timothy Garton Ash, Julian Barnes, Simone de Beauvoir, Alain de Botton, Pierre Bourdieu, Italo Calvino, Sigrid Combüchen, Marie Darrieussecq, Virginie Despentes, Tristan Egolf, Trond Berg Eriksen, Kjartan Fløgstad, Richard Ford, Jonas Gardell, Francois Jacob, Ryszard Kapuscinski, Rosa Liksom, Mayra Montero, Cees Nooteboom, Ben Okri, Georges Perec, Thomas Pynchon, Carina Rydberg, Göran Rosenberg, Will Self, Finn Skårderud, Mutsuo Takahashi, Rupert Thomson and Klas Östergren.

Tiderne Skifter publishes about 35-40 new titles each year.
